Our Faith must be in God, and God alone!

I felt the deep need to write this following people's comments and expectations even as the election campaigns were going on and the subsequent elections and results.  Kenyan Christians: Our hope and trust must remain in the Living God. We must never deceive ourselves that having systems in place and the "right" people in office take the place of God. Nothing and no-one can ever take the place of God. We are not alive because of a policy but because of God's will. Instead we must believe in the Sovereign God to lead and direct us to make the right decisions in order to build the nation. The Bible warns us against us putting our trust in man. Read the entire Bible, cover to cover, any time the people's hearts moved away from God there were consequences. As I listen to the discussions and comments, there are those who are so fearful of sanctions by the Western world and for me, I choose to believe that in this year of Jubilee, we shall be set free from dono...

This Nation and God

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord .   “As the heavens are higher than the earth,      so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:8-9)  I believe the above scripture should be deeply embedded in our hearts and minds as a people of God living in this nation at such a time as this.  Let's think about our personal lives for a moment. There are so many things that have not always turned out the way we planned them to be. You worked hard but did not qualify for university admission. You were engaged to get married but it did not materialize. Your child sat for his or her KCPE or KCSE and did not make the required grades for your preferred high school or university. You had hoped for a promotion at work but that did not come through. You prayed for your loved one to be healed but he or she died. You began a business but it did not come through. The li...

Lessons from the Kenyan Elections (2013)

When I got back home after queuing for 3 and half hours, I began to think about certain lessons I have learned towards the countdown to Kenya's historic elections. When you think about it we have actually participated in a historic moment: the new constitution is in place and we are in our season of Jubilee as a nation. What a privilege and what an opportune time to be alive!  So what have I learned? LESSON ONE: Praying for the nation is not something I should only do when it is election time. I learned that the more I prayed the more the Lord laid on my heart specific things about this nation that needed to be dealt with in prayer. The more I prayed, not necessarily in a prayer meeting or during my quiet time, but even as I walked in my neighborhood or commuted from one place to another, there were the whispers in my heart that God answered PAP, or waited for me to be in a church setting and He would answer using certain aspects of various sermons. I learned that when I ...

Why I follow Him

You see, when your life is not as broken as mine, it is easy to call me names, referring to me as being too radical, too religious, too everything that makes you uncomfortable. But you see my friend you have not walked in my shoes and you do not understand how far the Lord has brought me. If it were not for Him, I'd be dead, not just physically but also spiritually.  Do you want to know why I follow Him? I am a woman broken by the past. Broken by the failure and disappointment of my personal life. A woman driven to wretchedness of heart and spirit. A woman so soiled that it was almost impossible to see any clean spot on me. You see, like the woman with the issue of blood, I too had my affliction, that never seemed to go away. I remember that day as clear as day when I touched the hem of His garment and He healed me. And you dare refer to me as being too radical? Where were you when I spent lots of money on doctors who could not heal me? Where were you when I sauntered ...
