For those who are not aware,Tamar was a young lady married to some guy (named Er) who was evil, and the Bible says as a result of his wickedness, God killed him. According to Jewish custom, the brother was to take her on and sire children through her so that his late brother could have descendants. This son number 2 (called Onan) misbehaved by spilling semen on the ground and this angered God and so God killed him too. The young men's father, Judah, advised Tamar to go to her father's house and live as a widow until his 3rd son (Shelah) was of age and she would be married to him. She obeyed but Judah did not keep his part of the bargain and Tamar had to think fast and posing as a roadside prostitute (the politically correct term in this generation is sex worker) and guess what! Judah came by and yeah, the rest was history. In due time Judah was told that his daughter-in-law was pregnant and he was furious only to be hit by the reality that it was he who had let down the young ...

I cannot begin to describe the past one year.  There are times I sat in my bedroom alone and wept my heart out. There are times I questioned God's wisdom in taking away my dad. There are times I looked at his pictures, and no tear came to my eyes. Then there are those times I could not bear looking at the pictures, especially those we had taken with him.  There are times I have wondered what his counsel would have been on a certain matter. There are times I have smiled thinking about him: his jokes, his perspective on life issues, his love and kindness. There are times I have cried silently in public and quickly wiped away the little tear that formed at the edge of my eye. There are times I have wondered if he died peacefully, or how he felt in his passing on, or whether he was ready to go. There are so many times I have missed him. I felt the deep need to write this following people's comments and expectations even as the election campaigns were going on and the subsequent elections and results.  Kenyan Christians: Our hope and trust must remain in the Living God. We must never deceive ourselves that having systems in place and the "right" people in office take the place of God. Nothing and no-one can ever take the place of God. We are not alive because of a policy but because of God's will. Instead we must believe in the Sovereign God to lead and direct us to make the right decisions in order to build the nation. The Bible warns us against us putting our trust in man. Read the entire Bible, cover to cover, any time the people's hearts moved away from God there were consequences.
